Amnesia – Venice Architecture Biennale 2014
EGYPT AMNESIA Venue: Pavilion at Giardini “The exhibition reflects the changes of the architecture style in Egypt and its development over the past 100 years.” A glimpse on 65 Architecture Biennale-Pavilions (Absorbing Modernity: 1914-2014).
Amnesia is an architectural installation highlighting how Egypt consciously forgot many of its authentic architectural features.
It was commissioned for the Egyptian pavilion in the 14th International Architecture Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia, 2014.
The installation consists of two complementary parts: an exterior resembling modern day Egyptian cities; and an interior interactive visual showcase. Using computer vision algorithms, the visitors’ motion helps them explore a timeline of the evolution of Egyptian architecture.
